Jacqueline Woodson " My crazy beautiful world "
Jacqueline Woodson was born on Febuary 12th in 1963 in Columbus. She's an author books targeted at children,teenagers and young adults.She has written stories since she was a child and she transforming lies into fiction loves telling stories about African American because she's one of them .
This story is with the lifestyle of Angela, a 16 years old girl who is remembering her life when she was 12. It combines the themes of childhood , freedom , religion and insecurity.
She doesn't feel pretty (almost like every teenager's).She is different from the other girls physically, and she says that her sister Dana is more intelligent and her bestfriend Maria is prettier than her which makes her a bit insecure.She is a Jehovah Witness, her religion is not the same that her classmates .There is also the passage of her grand mother combing her hair, they are both really close. It seems that Jacqueline has been inspired by her own life for doing this character ,indeed in an interview she saids that her family is "a single mum and a grandmother", like Angela.
I would not say that the best book in the world but i enjoyed it, it's pretty easy to read it . I think you have to read this if you are a teenage girl because you can identify yourself as Angela ! I have appreciate this story because I recognized myself in Angela's insecurity and probably a lot of people too . I recommend this book because I'm sure you will love discover Angela's story because it shows us differents feelings that teenagers feel. so I recommend it for young people because i dont think elderly and alduts like this kind of story.
